Mobile Video Workshop

„Heimatkunde“ (local history) – this is the title of a digital exhibition in the museum „Haus der BrandenburgischPreußischen Geschichte (HBPG)“ in Potsdam telling the story of people who fleed to Brandenburg. In four workshops young participants dealt with the topics of home and identity under professional artistic guidance. Tape Art, Photography, Mobile Video and Breakdance were offered and Moviemiento hosted the Mobile Video Workshop.
The outcomes of all four workshops were presented collectively in July 2018 in a multimedia exhibition in the museum.

Home and Identity

All workshops were addressed to refugee and german teens between 14 and 21 years old. The video workshop lasted two days and only smartphones were used. Participants learned creative and technical aspects like perspective, camera work, composition, sound and editing. They learned to plan an interview and used the knowledge to interview people in the streets of Potsdam, regarding their homeland, since when they live in Potsdam and if they had settled in yet.
