Temporary Home – Home in Crisis

In Kassel for the second time! Coinciding with dOCUMENTA (13), the project team converted an empty office building into a temporary home for social and artistic experiments of all kinds. The team worked closely with long-standing project partners from Poland and France, as well as with many friends and international artists. During a period of six weeks the organizers, guests, and artists lived together within Temporary Home.

The Lived-in Installation

Events, Exhibitions, and Artist Residencies

Temporary Home hosted 100-plus events all free of charge including concerts, theatre shows, film nights, DJ-Sets, performances, workshops and an art exhibition by international artists, as well as offering artist residencies for the first time. One work which was created during their residency was a theatre piece on site by The Actor’s Theatre from Cairo.

The Topic

Home in Crisis

The exhibition and many of the events grappled with topics which threaten home. The organizational team was particularly interested in the inner dimension of personal crises, such as inter-personal relationships, identity and existential crises, in addition to external factors such as economic crises, natural catastrophes, and war.
