THE IDEA OF MOVIEMIENTO

A good idea, a passionate team of film enthusiasts with a mutual love for travelling and a brightly colored bus: this is how the nomad among the short film festivals was born. Moviemiento - Short Films on the Road is based on a simple and unique idea: a moving short film festival that travels throughout Europe and the world.

Bringing the films to the audience rather than vice versa, is the big ambition of all our screenings and is realized by sticking to one habit: the films are usually screened outside on public spaces and admission is free of charge. Also the content of the films thus reflects the spirit and goal of Moviemiento - to promote mobility in the minds of people and intercultural dialogue via short films.

INTERCHANGE

Moviemiento provides young filmmakers with a real international stage. Our festival targets young and culturally interested spectators, but we also reach out to a broader local audience and attract spontaenous passers-by. By using public spaces, we make our festival part of the host city, and vice versa.

Moviemiento creates connections. Besides screening shorts from all over Europe and the world, we shoot and edit an ongoing video documentary that is shown at every stop of the journey after the film program. Through the documentary, the audience can connect to prior places the festival has screened at and share the experience of travelling. The screenings are complemented with performances by local artists and musicians.

TEAM

We are a group of film enthusiasts sharing the common belief that together we can make things move! We have a wide range of academic backgrounds - from architecture to cultural studies, languages, economy, information technology, film studies and law. Most of us have been living in Berlin for a number of years and have diverse contacts and networks within the cultural scene of the city. A passion for travelling and curiousity about other countries and cultures bind us - many of us have foreign experience organizing different projects or studied abroad, whether in Europe, the USA or South and Central America. Our complementary skills and European-wide contacts make Moviemiento possible.
